Day 222: Curb Appeal

My grandmother's favorite phrase has got to be "curb appeal." Every house she passes seems to be rated based on this factor she learned from watching a lot of HGTV.

We started increasing our house's curb appeal by ripping out the ugly, overgrown, half-dead bushes from the front garden over the last year or so. On a lovely Saturday not too long ago, we took a trip to The Stone Store and bought some grey Belgian blocks to edge out the flowerbeds. We ripped up the basic black plastic tube edging that had been on the garden, and extended the flowerbed on the right-hand side of the front of the house.

Today, we made our way to Costco and Lowe's and purchased enough plants and mulch to turn our (literal) patch of dirt into a respectable front garden and put #34 in the books.

There's two azaleas (one's a dwarf one on the far left that should have bright pink blooms, the one on the far right will have red blooms (hopefully)), a dwarf boxwood to the right of the stairs, two flowering perennials (one on each side of the steps), a lot of red tulips, and an adorable cat checking out my work.

Let's hope I can keep this up.

Tomorrow: Easter dinner for Cliff's family means #7 will be half-way done.
